Well, here we are… It saddens my heart to admit it, but we are about halfway through this glorious season that we call “Fall.” So far, the “Spiced Apple Latte” has gone over incredibly well, as people have been lining up out the door in their scarves and peacoats to grab BLOCCoffee Co.’s hottest new beverage. With the halfway point of Autumn quickly approaching, we decided to try continuing our wild success by creating a second iteration of our fall menu.

The beginning of fall is usually associated with the fading of summer’s intense heat while the brisk fall air begins to arrive; this sharp contrast was part of the inspiration behind the Spiced Apple Latte. The warm, comforting taste of mulled apple cider was present in this latte, while it maintained some aspects of biting into a crisp, fresh apple to cut the heat of summer. However, with the temperature continuing to drop throughout the second half of this season, we thought it might be good to introduce a drink that could help warm our customers up even more than our previous special. The solution to the problem at hand was extremely simple: we need a drink that screams “campfire in a cup”, and with our new “Toasted Marshmallow Latte” we think we have successfully accomplished this task.

Our new “Toasted Marshmallow” is made using handcrafted simple syrup that we make by literally toasting marshmallows and melting them down into a liquid. (see below) Once espresso and steamed milk are added, you will actually feel like you are sitting in the middle of Yosemite National Park roasting s’mores around a campfire with your best friends… and all that it costs is one trip to BLOC Coffee Company*.

*Actual trip to Yosemite National Park not included… (our lawyers made us say that.)

 

The final beverage that we crafted for the second iteration of our fall menu is our take on a classic fall beverage: the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Now we know what you’re thinking: “I’m not a basic white girl, so I’m NEVER going to try a PSL from BLOC” … but we DOUBLE DOG DARE you to try this new delicious beverage. This latte is not made with some pre-packaged simple syrup that has sat on a shelf since last fall, but instead it begins with a homemade, handcrafted Pumpkin Spice simple syrup. This simple syrup is made with real pumpkin puree and then we add our own special blend of spices to create a simple syrup like no other. We combine this simple syrup with espresso and steamed milk to create a PSL that even that dude at the gym benching 300 lbs. can’t turn down.

If you’re anything like me, a trip out west to Yosemite to roast some marshmallows around a campfire with your friends sounds like a dream.  If you also bench 300 lbs, just like me, don’t worry; our new PSL is not too basic for you.
