It’s the most caffeinated time of the year. Christmas is here and we at BLOC Coffee Co. are filled with cheer. The joys of Thanksgiving and fall have come and gone, leaving us all slightly overweight and exhausted from the emotional taxation that is an awkward family dinner. Looming before us is the busiest time of the year, which means that we are all going to need an abundance of caffeine (approximately five gallons per person, over a months time). Luckily, BLOC Coffee Co. has curated a caffeine experience that is designed for the simplest of coffee drinkers, to those who are looking for a holiday sleigh-ride when enjoying their coffee.

 

Along with this busy season comes spiked eggnog, awkward family reunions, and then more really spiked eggnog (helpful hint: you might have to tell Uncle Hairy to be a little heavy-handed with the Spiced Rum, after you’re five stories deep about his ex-wife, Linda). Unfortunately, we won’t be serving any spiked eggnog, partially because we would get a stern talking to by the state department, and partially because we will have drank it all behind the counter. However, we will be serving a variety of tasty caffeinated beverages that are sure to pick you up after that unbearably long reunion.

 

First up, we have our Nutcracker Latte. This latte was intentionally crafted for the Holiday season, and we really think that it hits all of the bases. It begins with a delicate blend of mint, nut, and chocolate, which is then incorporated into our handcrafted espresso and topped with steamed milk. Plated with a dash of peppermint, and served with a miniature candy cane, this latte will warm you up on the coldest of winter days. We recommend pairing this latte with our Peppermint Brownie Pastry Pocket for a Holiday experience you won't soon forget.

 

The second creation for this year’s winter menu is the Crème Brûlée Cappuccino. Around the shop, the drink of choice for our baristas has to be the tried-and-true cappuccino; it is the perfect blend of espresso to milk, and it warms you up in the deepest parts of your soul. Cappuccinos are so incredible, we figured, “why not create a specialty drink that is centered around its perfection?” We wanted to capture the warmth and natural sweetness in a cappuccino, so we took our traditional cappuccino, added a little bit more air than usual, and then set honey and sugar on top of that air. Using a crème brûlée torch we then caramelize the sugars on top, creating a hard and delicately sweet crust that sits above the entire beverage. Classic French dessert meets an Italian-inspired Cappuccino? We aren't mad at that idea at all. Pairs well with our Gingerbread Pastry Pocket with eggnog icing.

 

What will we be doing this holiday season, you ask? During hours, we will be passionately and relentlessly slaving away to create the most quality coffee beverages around; however, after hours, you can find the whole staff at our boss’ house by the fire, enjoying each others company, drinking spiked eggnog, and watching “Elf” on repeat.
